Maureen VanWormer-Westberg began creating the breed in the late 1980's right here in the USA.
Maureen was nicknamed Micky and this is where the Mi-Ki (pronounced Mee-Key) originated from.
                                 Mi-Ki bred to Mi-Ki for over 25 years!

The Mi-ki's were bred to resemble the look of a "Gremlin" ( a mogwai ) This
adorable breed is a combination of Japanese Chin, Papillon, Maltese, Yorkie,
and Shih Tzu , taking on the superior qualities of each breed, because of this,
they are one of a kind breed of dog, they are very Intelligent, Beautiful, Great
Temperment, Obedient, and very Loyal, they have non-shedding coats, which
is Great for someone with Allergies. They make Great Therapy dogs.

  The Mi-Ki is NOT a Mix-Breed or Designer Dog

The very 1st Club was built by Maureen in 1991, as the Greater Toy Mi-Ki Club

8 members from that Club founded the MCOA   "Mi-ki Club of America"

Donna Hall, that bred under the name of "Flyers" was president and bought all the dogs from
Maureen.

In 2002 the "Mi-Ki Club of America" recieved full recognition of the dogs in their stud books
thru the RUD/UCI, which is based in Germany.

The RUD/UCI recognition makes these Mi-Ki's eligible to be shown in 16 other countries thru
out the world and ONLY applies to the dogs in the MCOA's registery.

The Mi-Ki actually has rooted hair, not fur. These little Angels donot have dander so they Never
Smell like a dog. The TEE-NEE and IN CHAN TING kennel names were used by Maureen. These
names should appear on all MI-Ki pedigrees, since the Mi-Ki was created by Maureen alone.

The Mi-Ki is non-yappy, calm yet playful with cat like mannerisms, friendly, gentle, outgoing, social,
intelligent and extremely Loving to people as well as other animals. They make Great Therapy
Dogs. According to studies, it has been noticed that their activity level is low to moderate, they make
great pets for apartment living, need very little exercise and they bark very little and are not overly
energetic which makes them also Great for the elderly.

The Mi-Ki's range in size from 3 to 8 pounds. They adapt to any lifestyle. Another outstanding
feature is their long beautiful coats of hair, not fur. A metal comb is all you need once a week to
keep them in condition, a bath once a month, so No Groomer needed for this breed.

The Long Coat can be groomed in two styles. The USA cut is to have the head clipped with a #10
blade going under the chin while leaving a beard and mustache, while blending the ears into the top
of the head, or you can shave the beard and mustache off. The feet are to be clipped to reveal the
toes and top of the foot. Never shave the ears or tail as it will take this hair longer to grow back out.
Some people prefer to leave their Mi-Ki in a puppy hair cut ! On the puppy cut the hair is left long all
over except the hair is kept trimmed around the eye area. We have taken pictures of our Mi-Ki's in
all three hair cuts to show you how they look different in each one.

The Mi-Ki comes in many colors (all colors are possible,including bi-colors, tri-colors, and the rare
solids). Mi-Ki puppies color can change as they become adults, as example, the Black can turn
silver or blue.
Rare colors: The Mi-Ki that stays Black is very rare and very much in demand.
Red: any shade of Red or Red and White is rare, but the SOLID RED is Extremely rare.

The solid built compact refined body allows them to carry their head high and their tail curved over
their back.

FACT

All Pure Breed dogs are a combination of several different breeds.

An example of this is the Yorkshire Terrier. The Yorkshire Terrier breed is over 100 years old and
was started with breeding the Skye Terrier and the Clydesdale(now extinct). These were then
crossed with the Maltese, the black and tan Manchester,Dandie Dinmont and the Paisley
Terrier...after years of breeding this combination and after so many generation then they have the
foundation stock, then from the foundation stock, the Registered name became the Yorkshire
Terrier.(it is alot more complicated than this, I have just tried to explain alittle about it).. Although
the Yorkshire Terrier is a "human-made" breed,
precisley what dogs where used in its creation remains largely a matter of speculation since no
breeding records were kept.

All AKC pure breed dogs were first a combination of several different breeds and ALL are
ancestors of the Wolf. You can check the origin of any registered dog breed and will be surprised
of what different breeds where combined to create that breed.

Our Mi-Ki's are DNA'd and are registered with MCOA,MI-KI Club of America,
NCA and America's Pet Registry Inc (a Purebreed registry that require's a pedigree),
                             most our Mi-Ki's are dual registered



A pedigree will accompany each puppy. All babies have a health
exam,(teeth,ears,skin,temperature,eyes,weight, tummy,etc) Heart and Patellas 1 to 2
days before they leave our home. They will also have Shots to date,
de-wormed, dew claws removed & 1yr written health guarantee. After proof
of spay/neuter you will receive registration papers...
      If interested in showing/breeding other arrangiments will be made.
All our Mi-Ki Adults and Puppies are Healthy and Happy.
